In this first module, we orient you to the process of Business Planning by going through our business plan outline in detail.  

We also start you working on the first 3 business planning steps so that by the end of this module,  you will have accomplished the following:

• Identified the key legal considerations related to your business, including form of ownership, business name registration, municipal regulations affecting your business, and liability insurance.
• Write your Company Profile which will sell the reader on your abilities to establish and run your business.  In this section, you establish yourself as the subject-matter expert related to your business.
• Write your Business Description.  I'll help you organize your thoughts so that you can group your products and services into distinct categories. This will make your business plan much easier to manage.   
• You'll learn about the different types of research, and how to quickly and efficiently know where to go for the most relevant data.

This first module is all about getting you started AND pointing you in the right direction.

This 2nd module is all about sales and marketing.  More specifically, I'll guide you step-by-step, through the process of laying a solid foundation on which to convert the concept of your buisness idea, into sales that you can convert to cash!

In this module, you will accomplish the following:

• Thoroughly evaluate your Industry so that you'll know to what extent there exists a need for your products and services.  If you discover that there's a marginal need, then you'll have an opportunity to revise your business idea accordingly BEFORE going any further. 
• Define your Target Customer otherwise known as 'ideal client' or 'ideal customer avatar'.  I'll guide you through a structured process for defining your customer, and then researching every attribute related to their needs, wants, purchasing habits, and so on.  By the end of this lesson, you'll know exactly who your customer is, and more importantly, where to find them!
• Evaluate your competition.  Even if you think you don't have any, I'll help you better understand who your competitors are and how best to research them.  By understanding everything about your competition, you'll better understand exactly where your business fits in the marketplace.
• Develop pricing strategies for your products and services. This is where many businesses have failed, and for sure, I'll not let you make those common mistakes.  In this lesson, you'll understand everything to do with pricing both services and products.  I'll introduce you to an efficient  model that ensures you price to be profitable, but yet at a level that the market will bear.
• Identify your Niche. Your niche essentially defines why your customers will purchase from you.  What makes your products or services unique?  What makes them stand out from your competitions?  I'll even offer you a list of attributes that will help you stand out in an otherwise crowded marketplace.
• Develop selling and advertising plans THAT WORK!  Most businesses fail because they fail to sell.  By the time you finish my lesson on selling, you'll know exactly what to do to generate sales.  You'll also understand whether or not advertising is a good fit (and for most businesses, it's not).  I'll even share some strategies to get free advertising (no kidding)!!

In this module, I'll help you work out the logistical aspects of your business so that your business plan leaves no stone unturned.

In this module you will accomplish the following:

• Identify roles & responsibilities of everyone who will be involved in your business. This includes employees, mentors and other trusted advisors. If you will have employees, you'll actually write their job descriptions  here, so that when it comes time to hiring, you'll be prepared.  
• Identify key pieces of equipment required to help run your business.  Whether your equipment consists of a computer & desk, or a plant full of manufacturing equipment, you'll work out those details in this lesson.   
• Describe the ideal business location and any amenities that your business will require to operate efficiently.   
• Describe in detail, all legal considerations and environmental concerns related to your business.  Before you start your business, its imperative that you be clear 

In this lesson, you will learn how the Banking system works.

After reviewing this lesson, you will understand how:

• cheques are physically processed,
• electronic banking works, and
• service charges are calculated (so you can pay the least amount). 

In this module, you'll accomplish the following:

• Understand banking jargon!  The world of banking and finance has created it's own dictionary of words and phrases.  By understanding this new language, you'll be better prepared to communicate with your lender . . . at their level!
• Thoroughly understand how the current banking system works and what the world of finance is all about.  Knowledge is power and being 'in the know' will better prepare you for dealing with your bank or other financial institution.
• Understand what bankers and lenders are looking for from a small business client so that you increase your chances for accessing bank financing.
• Understand the major lending facilities (types of loans) so that you know which one best suits your needs.
• Understand the main types of security documents so that you are prepared to offer collateral to secure your loan. 

In this module, you will begin pulling your business plan together by estimating your monthly sales.  You’ll then create your Cash Flow Forecast and understand if your business will be profitable.

In this module, you will accomplish the following:

• Receive valuable tips and best practices to ensure your business will exist for many decades!   If you need to borrow money to establish your business, Peter will show you how to make a small change in your business (and attitude) that will allow your business to be financially independent and self-funding within 5 years.

• You will learn two creative methods for accurately estimating your sales. This is the first step to complete your Cash Flow Forecast.

• Learn you how to complete your own Cash Flow Forecast.  This important document converts the written portion of your business plan to numbers that will appear on one page!  (no kidding!!)

• Use your Cash Flow Forecast data to complete the financial section of the business plan.  You will have a solid understanding of the Opening & Closing Balance Sheets as well as the Income Statement.

Before you start your business, it’s important to establish effective systems for managing the paper, because there will be a LOT of it!

From Invoicing your clients, to collecting their money, and then depositing that money into your bank account.  All of these activities must be carefully considered and documented so that you remain in good standing with the taxman!  Because of the extensive nature of the material, this lesson has been broken down into 4 Parts:

In this module, you will accomplish the following: 

• Understand the business systems of invoicing, accounts receivable, cash receipts, and cash disbursements.
• Understand the 4 methods of paying bills, petty cash, division of duties (and why this is so important), and bank reconciliation worksheets
